PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element which is superior is display quality and shock resistance by preventing an orientation control film from being contaminated or damaged in a manufacture process and improving the adhesive strength of a substrate. SOLUTION: After a spacer 6 is formed on the upper layer of an insulating substrate 1a of one substrate 10, an orientation control film 5a is formed covering the spacer 6 and the upper layer of the insulating substrate 1a. Further, the orientation control film 5b of the other substrate 20 and the orientation control film 5a formed on the top surface of the said spacer 6 are softened and adhered together under applied pressure to stick the two substrates 10 and 20 together.
