PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the image quality of a color image by preventing image irregularity and the color slurring of each color by compensating for correlation fluctuation between plural image carriers and a transfer medium. SOLUTION: A resist mark image is formed on the image carrier 42A of a reference color, and is transferred on the transfer medium or a transfer belt 44 moving the transfer medium, so that the resist mark 50 transferred on the belt 44 is detected and also the speed of the image carrier 42A of the reference color is detected. The moving speed of the belt 44 is controlled and the resist mark image is formed on the image carriers 42B-42D of colors other than the reference color based on its information. They are transferred on the belt 44, and the speed of the image carriers 42B-42D of the colors other than the reference color is controlled based on the deviation value between the resist mark 50 of the reference color transferred on the belt 44 and the resist marks 50 of the colors other than the reference color and the controlled variable of the belt 44. |
