The control system provides secure control of at least two doors (14A,B,C) each preventing access to a cash dispensing machine. Each door (14A,B,C) is fitted with a lock (18A,B,C). A controller (32) provides control signals to operate the locks, with the opening of each door being authorised independently on receipt of instructions from the controller. Detectors (22A,B,C) detect the state of operation of each lock, with the opening of a lock only being authorised if all locks are currently in the locked position. The system includes a low voltage supply, with a battery backup, and a keyboard for entry of commands to operate the lock mechanisms. The system also includes a connection for remote surveillance of the state of the locks, and a time delay preventing the operation of one lock within a given period of operation of another lock.
