The hollow rotating distributor (1) for controlling inlet or exhaust gas transfers in an i.c. engine has an external cylindrical wall (2). The distributor is rotated synchronously with the engine shaft by a crown wheel (8). It has an internal gas transfer channel (4) which discharges in an axial direction through one open end (5) of the distributor and radially through a slot (7) in the lateral surface. The tubular distributor has an internal partition (12), connected to the external wall, which delimits the internal gas transfer channel over a part of the channel length between the distributor open ends (5,6) and the radial slot in the cylindrical side wall.
