PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance shock-resistant properties and storage characteristics by providing a negative electrode comprising a pellet containing carbon fibers absorbing/releasing lithium ions and having a cationic surface active agent attached to them and a binding agent. SOLUTION: A positive electrode 3 is housed in a positive can 1 through a positive collector 2, and a separator 4 is placed on the positive electrode 3. A pellet-shaped negative electrode 5 is placed on the separator 4, and a negative collector 6 is placed on the negative electrode 5. The negative electrode 5 is prepared by kneading a negative electrode material containing carbon fibers absorbing/releasing lithium ions and having a cationic surface active agent attached to them and a binding agent, then molding the kneaded material in a pellet. The attached amount of the cationic surface active agent is limited to 0.01-0.2wt.% based on the weight of the carbon fibers, and the carbon fibers are prepared by immersing in a 0.1-1.0% cationic surface active agent aqueous solution, then drying. Shock resistance is increased, storage characteristics are enhanced, and capacity is increased. |
