PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a car body electrical system's failure caused by high- tension current when the destination of the alternator's generated output is changed over from a high-tension load of electrical loads to a low-tension load, even if an abnormal case occurs where an alternator is fixed to the high tension side. SOLUTION: A controlling device for an alternator is equipped with a change- over switch 23, which changes over the destination of the generated output of the alternator 21 driven by an engine 1 to an electrical heating catalyst 16 having a high-tension heater resistor 24 or to a low-tension car body electrical system 26, and with an ECU 5, which controls the switching of the change- over switch 23 and also controls the generated output of the alternator 21 depending on the switching direction of the change-over switch. When the destination of the generated output of the alternator 21 is changed over from the high-tension heater resistor 24 to the low-tension car body electrical system 27, the ECU 5 makes the change-over switch 23 operate after a judgment that the output of the alternator 21 has been switched over from the high-tension load to the low-tension load.
|
