PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a uniform amplification factor from a carbon dioxide laser oscillator as a whole by providing a plurality of pairs of electrode pairs which discharge in the direction perpendicular to the flowing direction of a laser gas at different positions composed of optical cavities and, at the same time, the optical cavities in the direction parallel to the outputting direction of a laser beam. SOLUTION: Electrodes 3A and 3B and 5A and 5B are provided in parallel with the outputting direction of a laser beam and the distances between an optical cavity 13 and the electrodes 3A and 3B and between the cavity 13 and the other electrodes 5A and 5B are made different from each other. The peak P1 of the amplification factor curve 15 of a first discharge electrode which is provided at the farthest position from the cavity 13 is at the most upstream position along the optical path and the peak P2 of the amplification factor curve 17 of a second discharge electrode is at an intermediate position and then, the peak P3 of the amplification factor curve 19 of a third discharge electrode is at the most downstream position. As the curve 21 indicates, a nearly uniform amplification factor can be obtained in the cross section of the cavity 13. |
