METHOD FOR REQUESTING VOLUNTARY OFFER TO HAND OFF IN CELLUARSYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method of reducing or eliminating call loss in a satellite cellular system in which the number of call resources is changed dynamically. SOLUTION: When deficiency in call resources is going to take place, a subscriber unit makes a request of a spontaneous application to hand-off. The subscriber unit applies spontaneous hand-off to other cells depending whether or not adjacent or near cells have sufficient signal intensity to make service to calls on progress. The satellite cellular system accepts the hand-off application request and the subscriber unit applying hand-off is switched to other cell. The satellite cellular system may reject the hand-off request. When a hand-off request is rejected, the subscriber unit loses the call 124 or specifies other cell position to switch the call before a prescribed time elapses.
