PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which is capable of reducing the volume of the development mother liquid and development replenishing liquid to be used and reducing a plate making cost, suppresses the amt. of the sludge to be generated, improves the adaptability to long-run, provides the excellent stability of sensitivity and is capable of decreasing the amt. of the waste liquid. SOLUTION: Development processing is executed by specifying the volume A of the mother liquor to be charged to a developing tank 1 at the time of starting to 1.5X<=A<=10X [A is the volume (liter) of the mother liquor to be charged, X is the max. value (meter) of the width of the photosensitive planographic printing plate processable by an automatic developing machine] and replenishing the mother liquor with the development replenishing liquid for compensating the deterioration of the developer by the processing from the development liquid tank 12 at the time of subjecting the photosensitive planographic printing plate subjected to image exposure by using the automatic developing machine cyclically reutilizing the developer to the development processing. The replenishment with the development replenishing liquid for the purpose of compensating the deterioration of the developer by the processing of the photosensitive planographic printing plate is executed from the development replenishing liquid tank 13 just before the photosensitive planographic printing plate to be developed is processed.
