SINTERING METHOD FOR NUCLEAR FUEL PELLET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain with high quality and at low cost by suppressing nitrogen content. SOLUTION: Nuclear fuel compressed powder is sintered in reducing gas atmosphere to produce pellets. As for the reducing gas, steam is added to mixture gas of hydrogen gas and nitrogen gas to use. The adding amount of steam for the mixture of hydrogen and nitrogen is so determined that the dew point as a measure is -15 deg.C or higher and the nitrogen content in the pellets becomes the normal value, 0.0075% or less.
