<p>An information processing apparatus and method which are capable of using a worm recording medium as if it were a rewrite type recording medium. A physical recording position on a recording medium is controlled with the recording position corresponding to a logical address in a virtual address space, whereby an address control mechanism which does not change a logical address in the same block even when the physical recording position is changed can be attained. Thus, a write-once type recording medium can be handled as a rewritable recording medium. The data which are being prepared or updated in memory can be recorded reliably on a recording medium by monitoring the utilizable residual capacity of the recording medium.</p> |
