An early strength-enhancing admixture and cement composition is disclosed. The admixtures incorporate strength-enhancing components selected from the group consisting of a. a nitrogenous compound of the formula <IMAGE> (I) wherein R1=R5A; R2=R5A, R5OH, -OR6, -R6, -H, or Z; R3=R5A, R5OH, -OR6, -R6, -H, or Z; A=-COOH or -SO3H (or salts thereof) Z= <IMAGE> R4=an alkylene linking group; R5=C1-C10 alkylene; R6=C1-C10 alkyl; and at least one of R2 or R3 is R5A, and b. a nitrogenous compound of the formula <IMAGE> (II) wherein R7=R5OH; R8=R5, -R5OH; R9=-H, R5OH. |
