Cylinder dryer of a paper making machine

A drying section of a machine for the production of a material web, especially of paper, has at least one drying cylinder which can be heated and which is wrapped round for part of its circumference by the web to be dried and a supporting belt. There is a press device which reinforces pressing of the web to the cylinder (1). Preferably the device is made, as a positive pressure box (11), so that pressure applied is different over partial areas of the cylinder's circumference or breadth or both, the box having different zones where pressure is applied with different values either along or across the web (5).
