Real=time reproduction for selective gradient-mapping and phong shadowing

The method involves computing an ambient factor, gradient mapping of a diffuse factor and selective output of the gradient mapped diffuse factor or the diffuse factor before the gradient mapping depending on a gradient mapping and/or shadowing selection signal (BPSELECT). A mirror factor is subjected to gradient mapping and the result output or the mirror factor before the mapping is output depending on the selection signal. The ambient factor, diffuse factor and mirror factor are summed to obtain the intensity value of the object observed from an optional point.
