The invention relates to a device for producing folding items using multi-width cross-folding means and longitudinal formers, in which device folding items of varying thickness, in particular telephone directories, are to be produced. The object of the invention is attained in that the number of superimposed plane surfaces for longitudinal formers corresponds to the number of items which can be adjacently cross-folded simultaneously in the axial direction of the cross-folding means. Consequently, each longitudinal former can be displaced up and down in at least two planes.
