The fixing element, esp for structural components (3) of an aircraft seat frame assembly, consists of an H-section member with a central crosspiece and two end flanges with thicker rounded edges. It is designed to slide axially and join two or more seat frame components together, fitting into slots (16a, 16b) or recesses of an appropriate shape and being fixed in place by a wedging member (28) and bolt (36). The two end flanges of the fixing element lie perpendicular to the central cross-piece or a few degrees from the perpendicular, and their rounded edges cover an angle of between 280 and 340 degrees, and preferably between 295 and 315 degrees. The flanges are of approximately the same width, or one can be a little wider than the other.
