A roller machine, especially a calendar or smoothing machine comprises roller gaps each formed from a pair of neighbouring rollers and guide roller(s) forming a deflecting device for a web path between two rollers. The guide roller (12) is supplied with an auxiliary web-guiding device (13, 14) acting radially on a predetermined circumferential section. Preferably the auxiliary device is located, partially at least, axially outside the working area of the calendar (1).
