A fruit machine has rotating discs (5) showing the winning or losing combination of symbols behind viewing windows (1). An additional LED display facility (23) and associated buttons (7) allow the user to set a combination of symbols (6) for betting before the last disc has stopped. If the bet combination corresponds to the actual combination of symbols a win is registered in display (26) which can be paid out or accumulated. The win may be a fixed amount or a random generated value. The additional win facility may be a risk (13), repeat (18) or jackpot (21) version with multifunction restart and stop buttons. The display facility may be a video monitor.
