Fitting to operate shut=off valves underground, or in other awkward positions

The fitting opens or closes a shut-off valve (11) which is underground, or in a position which is difficult to access. It has a square rod (2) which can reach as far as the valve, and which is especially in the form of a telescopic rod which is secured by a locking system. The rod has a sleeve tube (5,6) which can be inserted into a bell-shaped element (7,8) which surrounds the connection between a coupling sleeve (14) and a valve spindle (12). The coupling sleeve has a spacer (24) which is associated with the bell-shaped element, in order to prevent the rod from being pulled from the spindle. The spacer combines with a sealing disc (16), which acts as a stop, and which forms a dirt seal towards the valve, while a sealing disc (3) on an edge cap (4) which is connected to the rod, seals towards the free end of the latter.
