Disclosed is a waveguide (150) having an improved structure and being used in a microwave oven (100), by which the food contained in a heating chamber is effectively heated. The waveguide (150) has a housing (152) attached to a side wall of the heating chamber (110), and has first, second and third guide plates (214, 224, 234) which are spaced at a predetermined distance apart from each other. The first guide plate (214) has a first wave diffusing opening (212), the second guide plate (224) has two second wave diffusing openings (222), and the third guide plate (234) has four third wave diffusing openings (232). The second wave diffusing openings (222) are off-set from the first wave diffusing opening (212). The third wave diffusing openings (232) are off-set from the second wave diffusing openings (222). By the waveguide (150), superimposed high-frequency microwaves are radiated into the heating chamber (110), so the heating efficiency is improved and the cooking time is shortened. The microwave oven (100) having the waveguide (150) can prevent a waste of electrical power. By the waveguide (150), it is possible to use a transformer (160) having a relatively small electrical capacity, so the manufacturing cost of the microwave oven (100) is reduced. |
