Gear shift lever arrangement for motor vehicles

The arrangement has a gear lever (1), a unit (17) to transmit lever movements to a vehicle transmission control, and a coupling device (12,13,15,16), to transmit movements of the vehicle transmission to the gear lever bearing (3,4,5,6). The coupling device has a transmission unit (14), so that a movement of the transmission relative to a movement of the transmission unit (17) caused by that movement, is transmitted to the gear shift lever bearing at a ratio, which does not equal 1. The ratio is smaller than 1, when the lever bearing is located between lever handle (2) and a take-off (18), connecting lever and transmission unit. It is larger than 1, when the take-off is located on the lever between bearing and handle.
