Removal of deposits from filter beds uses backflushing. The backflushing media are introduced at different velocities. At least two are used and the velocity of one is reduced to zero at least for one time interval during the backflushing operation. One medium to be used is air and the other a liq. During the operation, liq. is introduced continuously and the air intermittently or vice versa. The whole can be controlled by a cycle controller with first one then both media being introduced into the filter. The controller will operate pumps and fans together with control valves on the lines to the filter. Used to remove solid impurities deposited in a filter bed of particulate material. |
