Touch-panel operation

A touch panel and operating method facilitate acknowledgement of double tapping touch inputs. Such a touch-panel may be located on a display mounted in a personal computer of a factory automation device. By detecting touch input coordinates during a continuous touch input sequence and comparing them with initial values, a valid control input can be recognised when the coordinates change by more than a predetermined amount and subsequently revert to their initial values. This facilitates a two finger input sequence. <IMAGE>
