Selective preparation of octa-2,7-dienyl-1-amine (I) and octa-1,7-dienyl-3-amine (II) comprises telomerisation of butadiene and ammonia (NH3) in a 2-phase system, using the catalyst in aqueous phase and an organic medium that is immiscible or only slightly miscible with water as the second phase.
