The tap has a head (12) to fit onto a projecting valve spindle. The tap is equipped with a mobile catch (24) to lock it in the required position. The catch is situated on the end of a flexible section (28) of the tap handle (14) and engages with a notch in the body of the tap. The tap handle has a lug for a locking pin or ring (35) which prevents the tap from being moved from its set position. The ring can be fastened, for example, with a lead seal. When the pin or ring is removed the flexible section of the tap handle can be raised to lift the catch and allows the handle to be moved into another position.
