PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause an NOX occlusion material to be carried on a carrier in most effectively dispersed manner and at the same time, prevent the occlusion material from being scattered, and enhance its resistance against sulfur poisoning. SOLUTION: This highly heat-resistant catalyst carrier is composed of an amorphous oxide compounded, with at least, one type of substance selected from (i) an oxide of NOX occluding element, (ii) Al2 O3 and (iii) TiO2 , ZrO2 and SiO2 . The components (iii) are acid, and at least, one of these components is complex as it is most effectively dispersed. Therefore, the NO2 occluding element is prevented from becoming poisoned by sulfur as SOX is prevented from approaching the NOX occluding element. At the same time, the power of the NOX occluding element to bind itself to the carrier is stronger, so that the NOX occluding element is prevented from becoming scattered at high temperatures. |
