PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyarylene sulfide resin composition excellent in flowability by mixing a polyarylene sulfide having a specified or lower content of alkali metals and alkaline earth metals with zeolite and an inorganic filler in a specified ratio. SOLUTION: A product obtained by reacting an alkali metal sulfide with a dihaloaromatic compound in an amidic organic solvent is washed with water and treated with a dilute aqueous acid solution of a concentration of about 0.01-5wt.% to prepare a polyarylene sulfide having a content of alkali metals and alkaline earth metals of 200wt.ppm or below and a melt viscosity of about 20-5,000P (as measured under conditions of a temperature of 320 deg.C, the L/D ratio of the nozzle of 40/1 and a shear rate of 2,400sec<-1> ). Next, 100 pts.wt. polyarylene sulfide is mixed with 0.01-20 pts.wt. zeolite of a mean particle diameter of 3μm and 0-300 pts.wt. powdery and flaky inorganic fillers (e.g. mica), and the obtained mixture is milled with e.g. a mixer and melt-kneaded with e.g. a twin-screw extruder to obtain a polyarylene sulfide resin composition.
