<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deformation of a secondary lead terminal, to maintain satisfactory connection between the secondary lead terminal and a high voltage terminal, and to enhance the reliability of an ignition coil in its operation. SOLUTION: In an ignition coil for an internal combustion engine, composed of a casing 40 filled therein with cured molding resin, the casing 40 defines therein a coil space 40b and a terminal space 40a, and a primary coil 12 and a secondary coil are held in the coil space 40b while a secondary lead terminal 60 connecting an end part 29 of the secondary coil with a high voltage terminal 28 is connected to a spark plug. One end part of the secondary terminal 60 has a shape such that a high voltage terminal 28 is screwed thereinto, and the other end part of the secondary terminal 60 is made to abut against the opening of the terminal space 40a. The surface of the secondary lead terminal 60 around the connecting part of the high voltage terminal 28 is made into contact with the surface of the casing in parallel therewith, and on the contrary, the secondary lead terminal 60 around the opening end face of the terminal space 40a is not made into contact with the surface of the casing 40.</p> |
