PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the above new compound which is a specific (2'-5')α- oligonucleotide compound, having actions on activation of endoribonuleases and useful as an inhibitor of protein synthesis for medicines, etc., such as an antiviral agent. SOLUTION: This new (2'-5')α-oligonucleotide compound is represented by formula I [B is a nucleic acid base; X is H or a phosphoric acid residue; (n) is an integer of 1-15]. The compound, especially (2'-5')oligoadenylic acid has actions on the activation of endoribonucleases and is useful as an inhibitor of protein synthesis for medicines, etc., such as an antiviral agent. The (2'-5') oligonucleotide compound is obtained by carrying out the polymerizing reaction of anα-nucleoside-5'-phosphorimidazolide compound represented by formula II in a reactional solution in the presence of a uranyl ion such as uranyl nitrate as a polymerizing catalyst and a 2 M N-ethylmorpholine buffer solution (at pH7.0) at 24 deg.C temperature for 4 days under stirring.
