PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire having excellent performance on ice, abrasion resistance, breakage resistance, etc., by compounding a rubber component with respective specific particle and silane coupling agent, foaming the compound rubber to a specific foaming ratio and using the obtained rubber containing closed cell as the rubber for tread. SOLUTION: (A) A rubber component is compounded with (B) 3-30 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A) of particles having a hardness of >=75 deg.C measured in conformity to JIS-K 6301-C and an average particle diameter of 5-250μm and having aluminum-bonded hydroxyl group and/or silicon-bonded hydroxyl group and (C) 3-50wt.% (based on the component B) of a coupling agent of the formula Y3 -Si-Cn -H2n A [Y is a 1-4C alkyl, Cl, etc.; (n) is 1-6; A is X, Sm Z (X is amino, vinyl, etc.; Z is group of formulae I, II, etc.; (m) is 1-6), etc.]. The obtained foamed rubber containing closed cells and having a foaming ratio of 5-35% is used as the rubber for tread. The component B preferably contains >=20wt.% of Al(OH)3 and/or SiO2 . The component C is preferably 3-mercaptopropyldimethoxymethylsilane, etc.
