PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal recording material being excellent in a property of color development and free from blushing due to heat and humidity by a method wherein a compound expressed by a specific formula is used as a coloring compound contained in a thermal coloring layer of a thermal recording material and 2,4-dihydroxy-2'-methoxybenzanilide is used as a color-developing compound. SOLUTION: This thermal recording material being used for a thermal printer or the like is formed by providing on a substrate a thermal coloring layer of which the main components are a colorless or light-colored coloring compound and a color-developing compound which can develop the color of the coloring compound in heating. In this case, a compound expressed by the formula (R1 and R2 are identical and denote an n-butyl or n-pentyl group, or R1 denotes an ethyl group and R2 an isopentyl group) is used as the coloring compound, while 2,4-dihydroxy-2'-methoxybenzanilide is used as the color-developing compound. The ratio of use amount of the 2,4-dihydroxy-2'-methoxybenzanilide is made preferably about 1-5 pts.wt. to 1 pt.wt. of the coloring compound of the formula. |
