PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a thermal transfer recording medium quickly by a method wherein a thermal transfer recording material being heated is applied in a uniform film thickness on a thermal transfer recording medium and then cured by casting light thereon. SOLUTION: An ink ribbon 1 being a used thermal transfer recording medium has an ink layer 1b not being used for printing and a broken part 1c being consequent on transfer recording. In the case of reproducing the ink ribbon 1 in this state, first coating ink 2 in a heated state is applied on the whole surface of the ink ribbon 1 by a roller or the like. After the film thickness of the coating ink 2 is made uniform by a film thickness control device 7 such as a knife being moved, an ultraviolet ray is cast thereon by an ultraviolet irradiation unit 8 from the rear of the base material 1a, so as to cure the coating ink 2 in the broken part 1c and to reproduce it as an ink layer 2a. Then, uncured ink 2b left without being cured is wiped off by a cleaning roller 9 and thus reproduction is completed. |
