PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formed lightweight cement having improved affinity of beads to cement and high strength by adding one or more kinds of powdery metal oxide, hydroxide or sulfide in the bonding of foamed glass beads with cement. SOLUTION: The foamed glass bead to be used in this process is produced by adding sodium silicate to fine glass powder, granulating by rolling granulation, etc., and foaming by heating at a high temperature and has a particle diameter of about 0.5-5mm, a bulk specific gravity of about 0.34 and a real specific gravity of about 0.57. The binder is e.g. a metal oxide such as red oxide (iron oxide), titanium oxide, alumina or copper oxide, a metal hydroxide such as ferrous hydroxide or ferric hydroxide or a metal sulfide such as iron sulfide. The amount of the binder is 3-20wt.% based on the cement. There is no particular restriction on the kind of the cement, however, the use of a low-alkali cement (e.g. slag cement) is preferable. The amount of the foamed glass bead is <=2 times that of the cement and amount of water is 0.2-0.8 pt.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. of the cement. |
