FIELD: geology. SUBSTANCE: method makes it possible to isolate potential diamond-bearing areas on basis of measurements of elements of occurrence of cracks, faults, dikes and direction of travel over them and on analysis of circular diagrams of distribution of jointing and dike formation. parameters of main kimberlite-controlling fracture of displacement type, boundaries of kimberlite field, positions and configurations of two structural-tectonic traps in present-day erosion cut containing kimberlite dikes along three systems of break-away cracks and faults derived from main kimberlite-controlling are determined by diagrams. Orientation of system of largest and open break-away cracks at spalling angle with respect to main kimberlite-controlling fracture and direction of system of transcurrent faults passing within range of 60 to 120 deg to them are determined and areas of crossing of these systems are limited on locality by data of lineament analysis by contours of development of long stratigraphic interval with duration not less than 285 years by geochronological scale.
