The outlet pipe comprises two pivoted half-shells (5a,5b) with a cross-section which varies from circular at its intake end to rectangular at its outlet end. It is operated by a power cylinder situated at a distance from the pivots (6a,6b). The adjustment of the half-shells' positions is controlled by a synchronising mechanism with a system of rods and sliders or of meshing toothed crown wheels. Each half-shell is made from a panel with a sandwich structure. It also has a central corrugated core to provide ventilation and an outer skin with reinforcing ribs.
