Aqueous solutions and micro-emulsions for the preservation of wood consists of: (A) a preservative having insecticidal and fungicidal properties; and (B) a waterproofing agent comprising at least one resin capable of penetrating the upper layers of the wood cells and contributing to the fixing of (A). Preservative may contain insecticidal pyrethroid especially cypermethrin, together with fungicide selected from carbamates, triazoles, quat. ammonium salts, boron derivatives, organic transition metal derivatives and isothiazolones. Preferred fungicides are mixtures of iodocarbamate, propiconazole, and tebuconazole. Resin may be water-soluble alkyd, modified oil, acrylic resin solution, polydiene copolymer and their mixtures.
