1,011,764. Geophysical surveying; recording apparatus. PAN GEO ATLAS CORPORATION. Nov. 14,1961 [Nov. 15,1960], No. 40766/61. Heading G1J and G1N. In a well logging arrangement wherein two arrangements for developing signals characteristic of the formation are spaced in a sonde and the two signals are recorded on a common tape, 67, Fig. 2, a delay arrangement, comprising a plurality of condensers C to which the signal from the lower head is sequentially fed by the wiper 29 of a selector switch 50, and subsequently sequentially taken off after a predetermined time by a wiper 30, is included in the path to a recorder 84, so that when the two traces are recorded side by side, the readings for any desired depth occur on a line at right angles to the direction of movement of the tape. The signals may be developed in gamma ray and neutron counters 71, 73, or other types of probes or electrodes and the recordings are made by light from sources 76 deflected by galvanometer coils 84, 85. The time constant of the input circuit of the delay arrangement; resistor 80 and one condenser, is made very small so that the signal is faithfully stored, and the discharge resistor 81 is made large. The tape and the selector switch are synchronized with the movement of drum 63 for lowering the sonde cable 62. |
