Window frame with internal roller shutter

The window frame consists of a fixed frame section (9) fitted into a window aperture (2) in the building wall (3) and designed to receive an inner opening frame section (4) with one or more glazed panels. The fixed frame section has a housing (13) above it to contain a roller shutter (14) which extends inside the fixed frame section when down and rolls up inside the housing when raised, freeing the frame so that the window can be opened. The side plates (12) of the roller shutter housing (13) are situated in line with and fixed to the uprights (11) of the fixed frame section, creating a space of variable depth in front of the rolled shutter which contains a layer of insulating material (22). The window surround also has a trapdoor (24) which gives access to the shutter housing from the inside.
