Polysilazane(I), which is useful as precursor of ceramic materials such as silicon nitride or carbonized silicon nitride being used as important material of ceramic industry, was prepared by the reaction of bis-silylmethane dissolved in organic solvent with or without methyl dichlorosilane and ammonia to give low molecular weight polysilazane, which is polymerized to give the title polysilazane(I). In formula, R1 and R2 are methyl or amide; if R2 is amide, R1 is methyl or hydrogen; 0.1 < x < 1; 0 < y < 0.9; molecular weight of I is 2,600-100,000.
