<p>A lamp unit which is used as the light source of an image reader. The lowering of the light quantity with time is small. The lamp unit is provided with a cylindrical gas-filled tube, a pair of electrodes which are fixed to the outer surface of the gas-filled tube, extend in the length direction of the tube and face to each other, an electrically insulating covering tube which covers the electrodes and the gas-filled tube, and a heat accumulating member which is in contact with the outer surface of the covering tube and extends in the length direction of the covering tube.</p> |
