A typical fabric base (1) is produced on a knitting frame using stranded polyester (2). Nickel/chrome resistance wire, wrapped on a polyester carrier filament (3) is inserted transversely at 5mm intervals, with two knitted rows of the base material intervening. A conducting strip (4), folded over each edge, is woven with polyester woof threads, carrying wrapped-on copper strands, on a copper wire warp. Connection with the fabric's resistance wires is assured by stitching the 3-fold hem. A complete 0.7mx 2.0m panel, operating at 400 deg.C, 600w 12v, would eg. be sandwiched between two woven sheets providing decorative effect. |
