A mixer-grinder (10) for food processing which is designed to provide both an ergonomically convenient position for the top of the hopper (16) with respect to loading, for the discharge opening (62) with respect to receiving the processed product and for the deepest point of the hopper (16) with respect to cleaning. The apparatus includes a base (14); a hopper (16) mounted on the base (14), the hopper (16) being formed by a front wall (38), a rear wall (40) and a curved bottom wall (42); an upwardly inclined trough (18) formed in the bottom wall (42) of the hopper (16); a discharge opening (62) in the front wall (38) at one end of the trough (18); a worm (30) rotatably mounted in the trough (18) for moving food toward the discharge opening (62); at least one paddle (22) for mixing food in the hopper (16), the paddle (22) being mounted on a rotatable shaft (26) in the hopper (16); and a motor (77) and transmission (76) mounted on the base (14) for driving the worm (30).
