<p>A gamma ray spectral tool (10) is provided that can be used in slick line (16) systems. The tool includes a battery (28), a controller (22), and a memory (20). In operation, the tool (10) compresses data from the spectral detector (18) for storage in the memory (20), allowing for long runs without the memory (20) overflowing. Further, a controller (22) latches the self-adjusting stabilization feature of the spectral detector (18) when the gamma ray intensity exceeds a predetermined threshold, preventing erroneous 'stabilization' by the stabilization feature of the spectral detector (18).</p> |
