<p>Atomised liquid slag, particularly from refuse incineration plants is used as a replacement for foundry sand. Preferably, bauxite or residual materials containing high proportions of alumina are added before atomisation, using ultrasound. Also claimed is a process for manufacture of foundry sand replacement, by atomisation of refuse incineration slags.</p>
