Locking position adjuster for motor vehicle seat

The position adjuster has an upper U-shaped seat rail running in a C-shaped lower vehicle body rail (1). The vertical legs of both rails have matching holes through them. A first locking bolt (6a), when the seat is positioned to align the holes with one another, is released under the force of a first spring (5) to pass through the first hole (2a) in the first leg (2e) of the upper rail. A second bolt (6b) supported and aligned between the holes in the legs (1d,1e) of the lower rail can be pushed by the action of the first bolt overcoming the force of a spring (9) to engage the hole (2b) in the second leg (2d) of the upper rail. The seat is locked through all four legs.
