Identifying fuel-feed related faulty operating of IC engine individual cylinders

The method for identifying individual cylinder faults is carried out in a number of steps. Firstly a specified operating condition of the IC engine is set and the rpm (nv) of the engine is determined. A command is then given for interrupting the fuel supply to the cylinder under test. The rpm (nni) is then redetermined. It is then determined, whether the difference (dni = nv - nvi) of the rpm (nv) before carrying of the command for the fuel interruption minus the rpm (nni) of the engine after carrying out of the command, is smaller than a specifiable limit value (dg). If the answer is yes, a faulty function data related to this cylinder is produced. The command for the fuel interruption to this cylinder is lifted and the last three steps at least are repeated for all further cylinders of the IC engine.
