PURPOSE:To easily remove an elastomer coating film from a formed ceramic article without damaging the article, by pressing a formed ceramic article having an elastomer coating film under hydrostatic pressure, subjecting to a specific heat-treatment and calcining the product. CONSTITUTION:An elastomer coating film having slurry or solution form is applied to a surface of a formed ceramic article by brushing, dipping, spraying, etc. Any elastomer can be used provided that it can be isotropically compressed according to the shape of formed article. Especially, a latex rubber, polybutadiene rubber, isoprene rubber, etc., can be used even under a pressure of about 20ton/cm<2> or more. The surface of a formed article is completely dried and subjected to rubber-press under hydrostatic pressure of about >=1ton/ cm<2>. The formed article produced by the rubber-press is heated in an inert gas to decompose and remove the elastomer coating film, reheated in air to completely remove the residual elastomer coating film and calcined to obtain a sintered ceramic article. |
