The invention relates to an on-board diagnostic device for checking parts of a motor vehicle's systems by means of test functions triggered during the vehicle's operation in predetermined starting conditions, in which at least one signal can be injected into the device by means of which the triggering of test functions on the device side is blocked and at least one test function performed by the device can be triggered independently of the predetermined starting conditions and/or its running can be modified. The device makes it possible to shorten the testing of partial systems at the end of the production line or during servicing, as there is no need to meet time-consuming starting conditions for the normal performance of test functions.
