Recycling solar cells or modules of silicon@ and silicon alloys

Silicon or Si alloy material from solar cells or modules is recovered by comminuting and mixing with iron and Si-containing materials for melting down and conversion into ferro-silicon. Preferably, frames of solar modules are first removed for separate treatment and the Si material is granulated by shredding for melting in an electric arc furnace. The ferro-silicon product is preferably used in steel manufacture.
