Digital image transmission method

The method involves transmitting a digital image which consists of a number of pixel, whereby each pixel is associated with an one- or multi-dimensional vector whose components can assume only certain numerical values. The vector is converted into a corresponding binary coded signals for transmitting, storing, displaying or printing the digital image. The pixel are summed up into groups, according to a predetermined, first selection criterion. A vector associated with a certain pixel is selected according to a predetermined second selection criterion, and a deviation of vectors within each group from the selected vector is determined. An equality signal is produced if the vectors are the same, while otherwise the deviations are converted to difference signals.
